It is characterized by a magnificent twin waterfall on the Simoot River with a drop of 200m; the size and extent of the waterfall vary depending on the rainfall season.
Orrorin Fossil Site is within the Lukeino formation composed of sediments and volcanic tuffs. The site is associated with the discovery of the earliest human fossils, Orrorin tugenensis (millennium man), dated between 5.7 and 6 million years old.
The site located between Lake Baringo and the Kamasia ranges to the west is characterized by finely layered sandstones and siltstones of the Chemeron formation of Pleistocene age.
