The gorge covers an area of approximately 10 km² and has been incised to a depth of about 10 m by the Endo River, which has an average channel width of roughly 7 m.
The Kaborut Salt Licks preserve a well-exposed Neogene stratigraphic record of the Kerio Valley Basin.
The exposed outcrop at this site is about 7 m high and extends several tens of metres along the road. The rocks are interpreted as part of the Samburu Basalts and display variable degrees of weathering
This is the point where the Eldama Ravine River and the Chemususu River meet to form the Perkerra River downstream. This geological site provides a clear and dramatic example of fluvial incision within the Kenya Rift.
The site is situated along the Nakuru– Sigor road on the eastern side of the carriageway. The exposed profile rises to approximately 7 m in height and comprises intercalated layers of tuffs and conglomerates.
The site comprises several distinct geomorphic and stratigraphic features and extends for approximately 600M.
